School Counselor
Mrs. Brittney Truman received her Bachelor's degree from Capital University in Psychology. After graduation, she attended the University of Dayton where she earned her Master’s degree in School Counseling. She is going on her eighth year as an elementary school counselor in Southwest Licking Schools. When Mrs. Truman is not at Etna Elementary, she enjoys spending time with her family and taking annual trips to Disney World.
Mrs. Truman is here to support all students at Etna Elementary and their families. She works with students in the classrooms, individually, and in small group settings. She also meets with parents, collaborates with all staff members, and organizes building-wide programs like Start with Hello week.
Individual counseling services are short-term and is available for all students. These meetings are typically 20 minutes during the school day at the teacher’s preferred time. Students may refer themselves or can be referred by all staff members and parents.
Small group counseling begins in the fall and group members meet once a week for six consecutive weeks. Common group topics include social skills, emotional regulation, family changes, and overcoming anxiety. Group members can be referred by staff members and parents.
